Teenager Charged in Tower Hamlets OAP Murder Case

The police have charged a 17-year-old teenager with the murder of an 88-year-old woman in sheltered housing.

After a suspected burglary, shortly after 4:30pm on 24th May, the old lady was found dead in her house at Sonali Gardens in Sutton Street, Tower Hamlets, east London, an area often visited by the cleaners in Tower Hamlets.The 17-year-old from Romford, who has not been named, will appear at Stratford Magistrates' Court tomorrow, Scotland Yard said.

The authorities have arrested the 17 year old boy from Romford, on 24th May night at a house in east London. He will appear at Stratford Magistrate court on 25th. Speaking on Saturday, Detective Chief Inspector Graeme Gwyn said: "We are treating this as a suspicious death after an aggravated burglary. It is unclear at present if anything was actually stolen.Another person was arrested but was later released for lack of evidence
